Bhagavad Gita for the modern life - Swami Udit Chaithanya

People often ask how to control anger. All of us get angry in some situations and it is acceptable as long as you can tell your victim in a calm tone later why you were angry and how you want the situation to be different. But, when we speak of “Krodha in a defective personality” we are talking of the habitually angry, irritable mood, impatient person, whose “fuse burns” for any trivial thing.

Generally, these people take out their anger at individuals that they want to establish their power on. So innocent children, spouses, employees or sub-ordinates are their victims. When the angry person sees fear and helplessness on the face of the victim or tears, their ego identified consciousness gets a boost. This pleasure forces them to retort to this behavior whenever they feel insecure and need the “power kick”. They never realize the people who loves them the most or helps them the most, are the ones who suffer the most, because of their crudeness.

Thus, you create a hell in your most intimate circle, when love and joy should be what you contribute to the people closest to you...……

Another fault of a habitually angry person is a lack of remorse about his behavior. Even when he feels he hurt someone, the angry mind since it is ego bound, always justifies itself and blames another person. Anger is also associated with MADA (pride) which we will see later. Pride often becomes arrogance which makes the angry person say….”this is what I am…... take it and adjust with me”. If you use words like this, it is important to realize your anger is not a simple reaction but a major CHARACTER FLAW. Your fire does burn others, but understand you are far from the inner Divinity, every time your Krodha burns others. It burns you in toxic levels as it alters your hormones and brain function too which is what Bhagavan says in Gita 2:62/63.

How to return to the Divine energy where balance, pleasantness and calm prevails is the task at hand…...
