MASTER: "But this is not possible without intense love of God.  One sees nothing but God everywhere when one loves Him with great intensity.  It is like a person with jaundice, who sees everything yellow.   1.1. Then one feels, 'I am verily He'. 1.2. "A drunkard, deeply intoxicated, says, 'Verily I am Kali!' The gopis, intoxicated with love, exclaimed, 'Verily I am Krishna!' 2.1 "One who thinks of God, day and night, beholds Him everywhere.  It is like a man's seeing flames on all sides after he has gazed fixedly at one flame for some time." 2.2. "But that isn't the real flame", flashed through M.'s mind. 3.1 Sri Ramakrishna, who could read a man's inmost thought, said: "One doesn't lose consciousness by thinking of Him who is all Spirit, all Consciousness. 3.2. 27/01/2017. This afternoon, a devotee asked , “Swami, for gaining Realization, is the enquiry ‘Who am I?’ the only way?” Sri Ramana Maharishi   answered him: 1. “Enquiry is not the only way. If one does spiritual practice (sadhana) with name and form, repetition of holy names (japa), or any of these methods with grim determination and perseverance, one becomes THAT. 2. According to the capacity of each individual, one spiritual practice is said to be better than another and several shades and variations of them have been given. 3. Some people are a long way from Tiruvannamalai, some are very near; some are in Tiruvannamalai, while some get into Bhagavan’s hall itself. 4. For those who come into the hall, it is enough, if they are told as they step in, ‘Here is the Maharshi’, and they realize him immediately. 5. No. 20.5 Even an attempt at the realisation of the Self raises you to Brahmaloka. It is not yet settled whether civilisation has always come from the lower to the higher. 8.3 The same arguments and proofs that have been brought forward to prove this proposition can also be used to demonstrate that the savage is only a degraded civilised man. 8.4 The people of China, for instance, can never believe that civilisation sprang from a savage state, because the contrary is within their experience. 8.5 But when you talk of the civilisation of America, what you mean is the perpetuity and the growth of your own race. Chapter 1.1 Discussion among Narada, Sanaka and Others… Questions by Sage Saunaka to Sri Suta In the forest of Naimisharanya, knowing about the onset of Kali Yuga, numerous sages had gathered under the leadership of Sage Saunaka to perform a thousand year Yagam to Lord Vishnu and to listen to stories about the Lord. Yagam means the sacrifice of animalistic tendancies in our minds so as to attain divinity. (Note – Naimisharanya is the place where disintegration takes place moment by moment. The ant crawling with a little piece of grub in its mouth for surviving in the atmosphere in which it is placed and the animal finding a little shelter in the jungles with a tremendous effort, a bird building nests, and mankind engaged in its well-known activities basically do not differ in quality. 2.1. There is an instinctive pressure from within the core of all living centers to solve this problem of the relationship between our location and the location of all beings. 2.2 The grabbing attitude of the rich man, the deceptive feeling engendered in the exploiting people, and the objective before the unjust militants and such types of people also can be clubbed within this peculiar problem of the inward position encountering an external and outward difficulty. The integral Yoga is based on the standpoint of the divine consciousness, and therefore takes a different view of human life and development than the ideals of perfection that start from the individual human standpoint. The ideal of the integral Yoga is to effect a transformation of being from human to divine. Sri Aurobindo notes: “Essentially then this divine self-perfection is a conversion of the human into a likeness of and a fundamental oneness with the divine nature, a rapid shaping of the image of God in man and filling in of its ideal outlines.” 2. The difficulty comes when the human seeker attempts to understand and implement a process to effect this conversion of the consciousness and the actions of life. MASTER: "God cannot be seen with these physical eyes.  In the course of spiritual discipline one gets a 'love body', endowed with 'love eyes', 'love ears', and so on.  One sees God with those 'love eyes'.  One hears the voice of God with those 'love ears'.  One even gets a sexual organ made of love." 20/01/2017. If there is a goal to be reached it cannot be permanent. The goal must already be there. We seek to reach the goal with the ego, but the goal exists before the ego. What is in the goal is even prior to our birth, that is, to the birth of the ego. Because we exist the ego appears to exist too. If we look on the Self as the ego then we become the ego, if as the mind we become the mind, if as the body we become the body. It is the thought which builds up sheaths in so many ways. The shadow on the water is found to be shaking. Can anyone stop the shaking of the shadow? If it would cease to shake you would not notice the water but only the light. Similarly take no notice of the ego and its activities, but see only the light behind. The ego is the thought ‘I’. The true ‘I’ is the Self. To be continued ..

MAHATMYAM 3.5 Before going on to Bhagavatham, let us start with Bhagavatha Mahatmyam which gives us insight into the importance of listening to and reciting Bhagavatham Bhagavatha Mahatmyam (The Glories of Srimad Bhagavatham) 3.6 The Bhagavatha Mahatmyam comprises six chapters and is found in the Padma Purana, Uttara Khanda (193 – 198). This contains the story of Bhakti Devi and her two dying sons Jnanam (Knowledge) and Vairagyam (Renunciation), which means observation (jnanam), devotion (bhakti) and engagement (dispassion or vairagyam); developing these qualities is the easiest way for getting out of our ignorance and defects. 4.1 Bhagavatha Mahatmyam is of great significance since it gives valuable instruction as to how Bhakti or devotion can be revived in this Kali Yuga through the recital and study of the Bhagavatham. Simply developing and upgrading the powers of mind, life and body is insufficient and only really addresses the external or mundane ideals without addressing the underlying truths that stand behind the religious and spiritual ideals of perfection. Sri Aurobindo notes: “The second stage of this Yoga will therefore be a persistent giving up of all the action of the nature into the hands of this greater Power, a substitution of its influence, possession and working for the personal effort, until the Divine to whom we aspire becomes the direct master of the Yoga and effects the entire spiritual and ideal conversion of the being.” Without such an intervention from outside, we remain bound within the limits of the outer nature. In the first year of my settling down in Tiruvannamalai [where he had shifted for good in 1937], I was sitting in the hall and Bhagavan was explaining a particular spiritual point to me. During the discussions he asked me to bring a book from the almirah (book case) in the hall. 2. Not finding the book, I returned to Bhagavan and sat down again facing him. Then Bhagavan slowly and majestically walked over to the almirah and immediately pulled out the book he had asked me to find. He closed the almirah and, to my surprise, instead of walking back to the couch, came and sat on the floor right next to me. 3.  He opened the book and holding it before my face, asked me to read the particular passage. Bhagavan’s attendants used to tell me that his body was like a furnace. Only then, when he sat so close to me, did I understand what they meant. These Upanishadic truths must enter your very bones and nerves. Then you will have selflessness, egolessness, desirelessness, Vasanalessness, Trishnalessness. When you have strength, knowledge, beauty, health, etc., and when you have been provided with books, teachers—everything—if you do not attempt for Self-realisation, then God is not to be blamed.
